STRAY

STRAY blends and twists all types of genres to form his unique style of music. With his low, soulful voice, STRAY tries to lose his audience in the pure art of music. Being a solo act that's not afraid to hit the stage with energy, STRAY is the kind of artist who feels at home on a stage.

Bursting onto the scene in the early 2000s to stir the feathers of the local heads, STRAY found no trouble in finding a place for himself and would go on to record and produce a majority of local Tasmanian hip-hop artists. He later produced the infamous Tasmaniaks track "Tas in Winter" (which would end up being played on rage) and was producer and MC of the short-lived Copious Crew, which received triple j airplay.

Now a well-established solo artist, STRAY is not only a singer of all styles but an audio engineer and producer, and usually does all his own work and releases. He also runs a small independent hip-hop label called Cardboard Crown King Records and runs an annual fundraiser called HEARTFEST to raise awareness of the rare Kawasaki disease his daughter was unfortunately diagnosed with at the age of two.

STRAY has also grown a reputation as a Tasmanian hip-hop advocate and demonstrates this with his ongoing work with schools and councils and the workshops he runs, educating young people on the music industry, hip hop, public speaking, performing and literature. He has also produced over 16 releases to date, ranging from free promo mixtapes to EPs and LPs, and is onto the fifth volume of his series of "Instraymentals".

STRAY has played a lot of shows over his 20-year career, both in Tasmania and on the mainland, and has cemented a growing cult following. He has supported an array of well-known Australian and international acts.
